Glomerulonephritis is often first suspected after a urine test. To confirm the diagnosis and identify the type of glomerulonephritis, your child usually needs blood tests.

Your doctor will speak with you and your child about their symptoms and do a physical examination.

Your child may also need other tests, such as a kidney biopsy or an ultrasound scan.
