Your child may need some tests at the clinic or hospital. These tests help find out whether your child has a health condition, and the best treatment.
For children with a kidney condition, the tests can find out how well a treatment is working. They can also see whether there is damage to their kidneys or other parts of their body.
-
MAG3 scan
Checks how well urine is draining from the kidneys – a chemical is injected into the body and a special camera takes images.
-
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan is a type of imaging test – a test that uses special equipment to create detailed images of part of the inside of the body, including organs like the kidneys.
-
Micturating cystourethrogram (MCUG)
A special type of X-ray test that looks at the urinary system – sometimes images are taken while a child is passing urine.
